Meet up with Ernie, Ockto-bear and JP and had a cracking evening dive at Anchor point. (Once Ernie turned up )

The rain had stopped by the time we got there and the water was flat calm.

We got in the water about 2025 and headed for the bottom of the wall. There was a bit of a current flowing (ebb), definately more noticeable under 20m which made for a bit of a swim to the end of the reef. Made for a cracking drift on the way back though.

Good amount of life. 3 congers seen (I missed the one just at the start of the reef). You could see the full length of one as it mades its way through a vertical crackin the rock.

Spent a bit of time zig zaging up the wall.

The BIG mother of all crabs is still there in it's hole at about 10m. If anyone is brave enough to bag that SOB they better have a big pot!

A couple of normal sized edibles where about as well, but I let them be.

Found Scuba-doh's Knome as well. And felt the urge to engrave my name onto his hat :o

Viz was not bad at about 4-5m. Max depth of 29.5m for 54 mins

Also found the 4th parking space the site guide claims :D ;)

Green water, viz 2 to 4 m. Enter and swim straight out from slabs. At about 18m came on a midwater cable. Turned right and onto first reef wall. Picked up a few scallops. Up over the top of the reef to see the cable burying into the sand. Swam north and onto a second wall. Lots to see in the cracks of the walls: congers, crabs & squatties. Plumose anemone forest along the top of one of the reef walls. Saw a pearly colored small cuttlefish on steep shingle about 26m. Lovely dive tho a bit of a struggle to get in and out the steep slabs.

30m max for 54 mins.

The Garden. These are three reefs in a line heading SW from Buck Rock. Goes from 12m to 35m. Wall dive especially on the E side. Big stands of Plumose anemones on top. Cracks with small loch life and short strips of sand with occasional scallops on the wall. Need to go North/ stay on the rock as if you go south you could surface on the route taken by the Portavadie ferry.

28m max for 35 mins. Temp 11 degrees. Viz 2 - 3m. Low water slack.

Ivy Rock Reef. This is a reef lying on the west side of Loch Fyne, about 30 mins south of Tarbert, just past a fish farm. Malcolm shotted the top. Hit the reef at about 12m. There are multiple huge/ large boulders with congers, seen by one of the other pairs, and the rest is an edible brown crab/ scallop dive on sand. Lots of nudibranchs. Saw one Plaice on the sand.

21m max for 55 mins. Same temp and viz. High water slack.
