Had a night dive last night at the A frames, coming out of the water at 22:40 (i was shattered this morning :o ),loads of fish out saw a large scorpion fish etc but as we surfaced in the shallows i spotted a large sea trout hiding in the seaweed he was a beauty,is this common in loch long in the summer?,big rusty nuts missed it,i could hear him muttering something about a crappy strobe :D

sea trout run from the start of june to the end of october, give or take a few days/weeks.
most likely the 'he' was a 'she' & heading upstream to spawn or lay.
loch long isnt exactly known for grilse/trout but its not imposibile.

That's beautiful, Loudy. I once stumbled upon 3 sea trout in a little cove just of west kilbride. It was in my snorkling years before i started diving - but the memory is vivid. Because i was snorkling i was dead quiet and able to sneak up really close to them. An outstanding memory! They really are beautiful fish if you can get close to them.

There were lots of Pollock at Finnart the other night.
They are quite pretty in the light.

Are there any Cod left, or have they been fished to extinction?
