Strange Usernames???

Having just read the little article about security precautions that Gord (I think) posted I've been a little more observant just in case I run into any wrong do'ers down a dark Conger Alley. So recently I noticed that one of our newest members was some incoherent mixture of letters and numbers and again today I've come across the same. I was under the impression that there was some personal interjection prior to approval to join Conger but maybe with all the work going on to change to the new host a few trojan horses have slipped through the net.

I might be being overly cautious or it might just be someone who doesn't want a particularly easy to remember log-in name... but just thought I'd highlight it incase someone who know's more about computers than me would find it of interest.

Let me reassure you.

The "newest member" can show up someone who has registered but is not yet approved by me. Invariably these people cannot post. Once or twice a week I go to my list of registrants awaiting approval and delete the spammers.

So, although you might see sdfkljsdfksdjh as our latest member, he can't post, and I'll delete his registration within a day or two.

Aaaah... I see! I did have a look at the registered members list after I wrote the post and kind of decided that there obviously was some type of 'Who goes there!' guard on members who can join.
