I dived the East Coast one day then the West Coast another day during this weekend, details:
Friday night, peterM and I headed down to St. Abbs after work to go out on MV Selkie. Conditions were pleasant apart from a Bizarre swell which seemed to come out of nowhere. We tried for Tyes Tunnel, but the swell made it too risky so we headed up to the Skellies. We dropped in and the Viz was superb with around 14-16m in the sheltered bay. Lots to see as we bimbled over the rocks, heading for the gullies, with a few Ballan Wrasse following us looking for bread.
Managed to spot a free swimming Pipefish, but by the time I got the camera on and the lights sorted out it was gone :( We then headed into the gulleys, with lots of crabs, a cod, pollack and some ling, plenty of soft corals and some failry large anemones. Only managed to spot one Lobster, but we did spot 3 Wolf Fish (well I did. Peter saw at least two of them).
I then headed of to Loch Long on the Friday with Dan to meet Loudy and Brian . Caves was too busy, conger alley looked busy so we headed for the Two piers. Sea was lumpy, but viz was not too bad. We headed on down to see the large resident conger, who was very curious he had a little brother not too far away and an extremely large edible crab too. When the sun came out it was like somebody switched on a light, even at 18m.
I got to try out another of Dan's lamps and it was excellent throughout the dive, although we do need to look at getting a brighter bulb. Dan had a 50W and I had 35w I think, his was much brighter, but didn't last full length of dive. No leaks to speak about, Dan is off to do more work on them.
Dan and I didn't find the little fishing boat, but loudy and buddy did.
Loudy went off to conger alley after but Dan and I decided to call it a day, weather was getting worse and sea even more lumpy.
Did pass Budgy on the way back down the road in his nice new yellow van. Yes it was us that parped the horn in Arachor then passed you down past the bottom of Loch Lomond.
