View Full Version : Photos from the wreck of the Arizona, Firth of Forth
From my dive on Saturday (before I knew about the jobbies floating about the Forth...)
All of these are found on the wreck of the Arizona, off Elie.

Ok.
The Arizona sits in about 18-20m (depending on tide). She is quite a small wreck, split up into 4 parts, 3 of which are connected by rope which our club put down there. The whole wreck is very broken up. At its highest point it sits 3m off the sea bed which would be around the 'engine area'.
There are areas where you can make out the ribs of the hull, some of the hull plating are around as well. Its got lots of marine life on it, with a couple of big lobsters present on Saturday. Because of this there are some lobster pots around there with line from them caught up in the wreck itself.
About the ship, she was a Dutch coaster bound from Methil to Holland carrying Coal (I think). On September 29 1940 she struck a Mine near Elie. All 5 of her crew went down with her.
I'll get a layout of the wreck drawn up and stick it on the dive site page.
