an update of all the new stuff I've bought...
Nice to see the first two boxes containing compressed neoprene suits and 2 x 15L cylinders.
I keep thinking about getting a twin set but then can never justify the marginal improvement over the good old 15+3 set-up.
... and the spring straps! I love'em too ... just don't forget to swap them back for the orignals when you go on holiday with your wetsuit!

I use my spring straps with wetsuit boots too - never had a problem.

NOOOOOOO, you cant make me use the original ones!
if have to I'll buy smaller spring straps.
are these spring straps that good?
I use the Mares ABS buckle system and find it great.. (apart from when they break or a strap snaps)

they are the best, easy to get on, easy to get off, you get the correct tension throughout the dive.
In Russia, with the hire kit, the fins had normal straps, nightmare!
If anyone wants; while we are diving together I will give you a loan of my fins, and then you will imediately turn to the dark side of spring straps and Apollo bio-fins....
edited: as flipp ers is masked, must be something to do with the flipp ers/fins argument...
What are these bio-fins you mentioned? Are they alive & do the propulsion for you: made out of mermaid tails or something??

Mine are Apollo bio-fins XT (for extra torque).

I first tried the normal bio-fins on a dive, I honestly thought I had lost them twice, that is why I went for the extra torque. Compared to my Avanti Quatros, they are amazing. I suffered baddly from leg cramps with the Quatros, and I have never had one with the bio-fins.
I have even managed to fin backwards with them, not very far but backwards all the same.
They look quite cool. :D
I'm quite happy with my Quattros with ABS buckles for now though. Have been practising finning backwards with them: a useful technique when trying to compose photos.
Yeah I used mine to swim down the slope at Bass rock backwards. Reason being as viz was crap and wanted to be able to see the group of 4 we were diving in, rather than head off for a couple of minutes and lose them.

Like everyother dive?
Its not my fault you can't fin with your gammy leg! :D
I swopped fins with my buddy a couple of weeks back,he has tusa x-pert zoom split fin's i use mares planks,i felt like i was finning with my baffies on :p absolutley no resistance on your legs at all but i did feel i was going nowhere at times, when we finished our dive he had cramp and couldn't wait to get his back.
I still haven't made my mind up about the split one's i like to feel a bit of resistance when finning but i suppose it's just what your used to.

I'd be able to swim faster if you carried more of my gear from the car!
