Cheers to Stuart (Lizardland) for organising & to Stewart for being my buddy.

Especially since the last time I went out on the Clyde it was a nightmare.

Nice to meet Charlie and I even got to christen my new dive book stamp on Charlie's log book!

Have fun tomorrow to the Conger Alley members heading out tomorrow!

Absolutely sh*te day here now (6.30pm) I'm impressed you managed any diving on the Clyde today. Your blog sounds like you had a good dive. Unfortunately weather sounds worse for tomorrow. Need to find a nice sheltered spot in a sea loch.

Sounds like you had a great dive. Did you find a memorial plaque? We placed a plaque on the wreck a few years ago to remember the crew who died.

The story is that Pat Gallacher found a ring many years ago on the wreck by accident and later decided to find out who the owner was. After years of investigating, he found out who the owner was. He managed to contact the great granddaughter who met with us to lay a wreath and we dived to lay a plaque we got made up. Other dive boats stood off as a mark of respect until we were finished. It was a sad day, but well worth it.

great blog as ever Davie, telling it like it was.
was nice to meet both charlie & stuart today, putting a face to a name makes all the difference.
thank you charlie for the lift, hope i didn't bore you too much with my conversation ;)
looking out at the weather now, i doubt the Clutha will sail tomorrow.
i think we were lucky to get the best out of a bad situation.
the video cam housing has dried out now, luckily the cam was not in it when the 'freak' wave struck:eek:
would have been a nice wreck to film, loaded with life.... next time :)

sad story Bikerbill,
didnt see the memorial plaque.
where is it placed?
such a large ship, we only covered just over half of it in the one dive.

Unfortunately our dive has been cancelled. Got a call fom Elaine at Eight last night to say that the forecast was mental for today ( not really surprising). Guess thats the luck of the draw eh? Glad to hear yesterdays crowd got out and had a gd time.

Bit disappointed but am going to out out with Elaine and co for our regular wed night wreck dive from the rib so all is not lost:D

Good to meet Stewart, Davie and Charlie. It's probably the darkest daytime dive I've had on the Akka, I had to remind myself more than once it wasn't the Wallachia and it took a long time to get my bearings. I'm not sure I really did -- hope you didn't get too dizzy, Charlie, with my attempts at navigation :D Well done as usual though to Elaine for being a superb skipper (and maker of soup) and despite the conditions the Clutha stayed fairly steady.

Not surprised today's diving was cancelled, I was emptying the kit out my car in a blizzard this afternoon. Not a day for being in boats.

And the cheque is in the post, Davie! Honest!

Cheers,

Stuart

Cheers, Stuart.

I thoroughly enjoyed the dive. I had absolutely no idea where I was on the wreck & was impressed that you were leading us with great conviction. I was convinced that you knew exactly where we were until you revealed otherwise afterwards.

Excellent dive with a brilliant bunch. :D

Just a real shame that the weather impacted on proceedings. I guess that's always the risk, especially in March. :o

Rings a bell :)

I always want to believe my buddy knows exactly where we're going, rather than my 'blind leading the daft' diveplan.
