Do you have a decent 4x4?

as Craig suggests, you need a real jeep to access this site.
there is another thread regarding this place in 'dive blogs' have a look.
last few times i was up there we accessed with a freelander, took about 20 attempts to get off the main road.
the last time i was there, we used an Isuzi rodeo, this also struggled a little, but got up after about 5 attempts.
a 'road' jeep wont look at it, neither will a car, good chance of vehicle damage if you try.
the alternative is walking up with your kit
the water is getting really cold now, 5 degrees i believe.
dont think i will be back up there again until the start of the summer.
if you manage to get there, give us a dive report.

Yup, we went up no bother in a Series 3 Landrover a couple of days ago... but it is kitted for off road play with decent full mud tyres on ;)
Oh and my computer can confirm that it is a chilly 4 deg C just now! Viz is lovely though :D

Up there again this morning. Viz is 12m++ Water is 4 deg. You wont get from the main road onto the access road without either 4wd or mud tyres, other than that it is not too bad. Nice dive but I'm too lazy to walk up that hill!!

you seem to like it up there smudge :)
not really recomended to lug your kit all the way up there in the first place.
worth pointing out...
the last thing anyone wants to be doing is exerting themselves pre-dive or post-dive & this is some hike.

Well I needed to get wet somewhere, I've been having dives blown out all year( :( ) and this is local and easy! First was a look see and today was a happy snaps session.

You're right about the hike mind you, Stallion rock needs respect for exactly the same reasons

I doubt Powmill will be a regular feature in my dive calendar but it's ideal for a kit check/drills practice or whatever, or just to rinse the kit and finish a cylinder ;) I can dress here at home as though I was going to get on a rib then take the truck straight to the waters edge, about 30-40 minutes, then set on, mask & fins on and fall in the water, post dive I throw the kit in the back and jump in the landy as I am... back home for a hot shower and out of the dive suit and my kit doesn't even need rinsed!! Diving doesn't get any easier lol

Hi Smudge,

Please let me know if you are diving at powmill some weekend, I would love to dive it again soon (myself and mrgreen did introduce powmill to the conger alley community after all!). I'm too unfit to lug my gear to the waters edge from the roadside so I would welcome my kit getting a lift in the back of your 4x4! (I'm sure I would manage to buy you a post-dive drink:rolleyes: )

Cheers
