Ok loch long lovers; get your thinking caps on.
I dived today somewhere I have never dived before, fed up doing the same old dive sites, so a little exploration dive today.
Perhaps half way from the caves & GDRE on the A817.
If your heading from Arrochar towards GDRE, on your right hand side there is a large lay by built into the rock.
Prior to that on your left, there is access for 2 vehicles to park.
Access to the dive site is a hop over the fence which has 3 green crosses painted on it, 3 yellow dashes & the numbers 173.
In the water there appears to be nothing to see except scree slope, not so if you don’t give up.
Swimming to your left, towards GDRE at 32 meters there is the start of a reef, goes on up to around 21 meters.
On the way back at 19m I found a large 2-meter or so admiralty anchor, would look good in the back garden, anyone got a trailer?
I first thought this may be midway reef, named by Ding a few months back, it appears not to be?
Any ideas?
if not, i suggest we call it Anchor reef.
