Has anyone used this company for lime? http://www.divelime.com/index.html

Looks like its £10 cheaper than Sofnolime.

Looks good. At £54.50 per keg, including delivery, for 6 or more kegs, would be worth us all getting together and ordering some!

Aye, thats £15 cheaper than the cheapest sofnolime so I'd be up for a keg or 2.

Is it worth it? These are medical limes, do they have any testing for diving use? We used Spherasorb a few years ago, great work of breathing but pretty poor performance at depth. Afew of us had breakthrough with heavy work, it just doesnt have the surface area. I am tight but not that tight, Sofnalime is still the best I've used. There is a big difference between a nice controlled operating theatre at sea level that isnt being worked hard and a cold, damp scrubber at 5bar+ where you are swimming against a current.

Looking at the divelime website the marketing blurb says the limes have been developed for rebreather diving.

It must have changed then. Intersurgical who make both the limes didn't rate them for anything but medical use and they weren't keen on selling it when they knew that's what it was for. Both are used abroad for diving where proper lime is mega expensive but for the sake of £15 I'll stick with something tested in rebreathers. I was lucky, I had breakthrough at only 30m, my mate had his at 75. Have a look on RBW there were a few other incidents there as well.

As the company is advertising it as diving lime you would imagine that it has been tested and approved for diving, if not this would be a major liability issue. According to their website it's the same particle size as Sofnolime. Some people are happy to stick with one brand but as with most markets you do need competition to ensure that you’re not paying over the odds for services and products, look at what happens when you rely on one manufacturer for cells!

I've got 3 kegs just now so that should last me a while. Let me know how you get on with the other stuff if you buy some.

Well just had a reply from Intersurgical and they've only recently had it tested for diving use. Fair enough, they hadn't when we tried it a few years ago. I've got enough lime for the rest of the year so I'll see how everyone gets on:)
