Looking for any info about Dive Centres/Boats on Islay, planning a Trip next year and have discovered that the Dive Centre has closed, so several problems now.
Are there any Dive Centres,Charter Boats, or Compressors that anyone knows about, or failing that Local Clubs/Divers
Any Info appreciated as logistically could be a nightmare
Stevie:confused:
try asking the local fire brigade if all else fails.

Yep I can confirm that the dive ctr on Islay is closed. I tried to get info two years ago from the guys that worked on Laphroig distillery and they said it was closed.:( :( :(

bit late but for anyone wanting to Dive in Islay (too much hassle with Ferries, and launch sites for me now) the Compressor that used to be in the Dive Centre is now in the Post Office! ...well I suppose it makes some sense, there are no Commercial Dive Boats, and I havent spoken to anyone who would rush to go back :(
Thats a pity as there are a few great wrecks on Islay
um, Snorkel123 and wee Paul both have boats and compressors, maybe a small friendly uncomercial dive trip could be arranged??
A drift dive from the SE point, East to West is magic.:)
Spent 2 separate weeks there.
Most dives were shallow & OK.
There are lots of wrecks (well broken) & collected a porthole with out really trying.:)
There's an article on diving Islay in the current (Oct 07) issue of Dive http://www.divemagazine.co.uk/
