Having recently taken up diving I have tried to keep my costs down.

Everything i've bought has come from Ebay (my dear friend) or the occasional item from DeepBlueDive and Amazon.

Most of it is new like the regs and gloves, fins, mask, torch and a few other bits. The rest is by careful selection.

Clothing -

Aquion Drysuit (ebay bargain)
Typhoon Thermalsuit (ebay bargain)
ND Undersuit (ebay bargain)
ND socks (ebay bargain)
Mares Vector BCD (ebay bargain)
ND gloves 5mm (deepbluedive)

Regs -

Dacor Eagle Pro 1st and 2nd(absolute bargain- yes i know i might have problems servicing this)
Mares Rover Octo
Uwatec SPG (ebay bargain)
couple of hoses (ebay bargain)

Fins -

Scubapro Kinetics (bargain basement Denney Diving)

Tanks -

Faber 10L (ebay bargain)
Faber 12L (CA)

Other Bits and pieces -

Princeton Tec Shockwave (absoulte luminous green bargain)
Weights 40lb - cost me buttons
Suunto Favor S (yet another ebay bargain)

Also got a few clips, slates, tool, knife, mask and snorkel(Typhoon) courtesy of my friend(Ebay).

All in all pretty frugal you might say. :D

i was the same when i first started diving , even worse as the good lady started at the same time so I was buying two sets of kit. And it is not easy finding pink kit for her as regulation black is not her thing.

Nice work! I trawled ebay to put together my kit and learnt some lessons from doing so (namely that I need to do more research) but it's all good.

I kitted out my other half for skiing just last year after convincing her she would enjoy it. I think the bank manager would have a fit if i did the same with diving :scared:

I was lucky when i joined my club that 1 of the guys were up grading to twins!
i had a drysuit, fins, mask snorkel due to snokelling of the north west coast of skye, but got two 15ltr cylinders, pony, apex xtx200 titanium with xtx40 oct and xtx50 for pony, seac sub stab jacket, harness, plus he through in a couple of pairs of gloves, which i've passed on(5 mm dont like them cant feel anything:))
only thing i had 2 buy was weights:( which was quite a lot cause i had a 8mm suit that was 2 big for me,have upgraded though to a nd rubatex suit which i got for a bargain from aquatron!!!
