As Gord so eloquently put (http://www.congeralley.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4957) this is the new forum for all things "techie".

If you want to discuss the dark side, do it here please.

I will start moving older threads in here for a bit of housekeeping.

Can we call it something other than the black forum? It sounds pants and does not say what it does on the tin.

Technical diving forum sounds better or teccie if you want to make it sound less formal.

so where are all the techi divers ?
i def am one, my spare room is home to so much extra gear twin 12/300 twin 7/300 7/232 stages 4 torches 3 computers a dive timer 3 dsmb bags galore 3 suits where does it stop its a disease this diving you might just go to get the mix topped up but you always come out with another bit of gear am i right?

so guys deepest and longest dive ever had to rescue your buddy from beyond 60 meters?

I am an old hardened tekkie, well 40 now!

In regards to rescue, never below 60, a few above on jollys on shallow wrecks with bubble blowers. I dive safely in tekkie diving and am self suffcient.

Longest dive 4 hrs in Menorca and deepest 88mt just shy of 90m, was aiming for the ton. I probs do the ton later this year when I get a new suit. Diving does take over a bit, but my wee boy keeps me busy. 15 years diving and still loving it !!

27 years later still diving
had to pull my ex diving buddy not once not twice but three times once from 65 meters when he started flapping on the rolfsburg 1 meter viz not a great dive once off the k17 and once on the pathfinder so yep you guessed it he and i def dont dive together anymore
as for my diving style i always stay well above the incident pit and practise practise practise otherwise we all get a bit complacent

longest was 2 hours 8 mins on the kintyre deepest was the seabed on the pathfinder 75 meters like you would like to get to the magical 100
even if it is a bounce

dive deep and long my fellow divers

Not a teccie, Not yet anyway, but dive a twinset and completed my Tech Nitrox with Ian last year. Will probably do Trimix later this year with a mate in Norway. Never really done much deep stuff. Probably less than 20 dives between 40 and 50M and only a couple beyond 50 in over 10 years of diving but there are a lot of Forth wrecks, including the K Boats on my wish list where I'd be a lot happier wi a squirt of He in the mix.

Only ever had to do shallow rescues, usually with new trainees. Hope to keep it that way!!

New forum should hopefully provide good advice to me and those like me considering the dark side!

was feeling left out so thought i'd jump in too...

yes i've pulled up divers and done a few rescues.

deepest - 24.5 metres, longest just over 4 mins which i was very happy with considering i only learnt to freedive 2 days before ::p :p

one of my best ever dives last year was full penetration of the exmouth with just under 3 hours in the water - stunning viz, great buddy and only 4 of us on the wreck.

done the pathfinder a few times too and it blows me away each time - right down to the little brass plaques on the edging for torpedo firing instructions.

I did a dive from the top platform of the commie pool once! Dive an Evo but don't consider myself as a techie diver, just a diver, who's planning on doing a few quality wrecks this year.

I love the Pathfinder, I think that's probably my favourite UK wreck. My first dive on it was really memorable, vis was so good you could look up and see divers on the shot doing deco, flat oily calm sea on the way out, sunshine... and it was the first dive I did which really made me appreciate how good rebreather diving was. Fantastic wreck.

58m on HMS Stubborn on air was probably one my most notable dives to date (with dodgy buddy supplied by dive centre who just did his own thing!) - stunning wreck of sub sitting upright on sea bed in Malta. Was feeling fine in deep blue sunshine until I started hearing "Scooby Doo" laughing at me. Started thinking that I must be really narked so better take it real easy. Only once back on the boat that I realised one of the other guys in the group was laughing his head off through his regs and since he was on the squeeky gas, I was hearing comic characters!!!

Done few rescues including underwater asma attack, cramps and quite a few OOA (especially on same Malta trip!) but nothing deep to date, thankfully.

did the k subs a couple of years ago, stunning viz about 20 meters, sun in the sky and no clouds anywhere,
we all turned up with twins and side mounts and there was a guy on the boat with us on a sinlge 12/300!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 i swear he had gills cos he went in behind us and came out behind us and only air in the cylinder,
each to there own,
well worth the dive yogi would def go back to them

Relative newb to the tecchie side of things. Really enjoying going bubble-free on the Meg. Massive learning curve but a cracking bit of kit. Max depth 45m but happy to take my time diving, training and putting in the hours before moving onto mixed gas next year.
