As im doing my PADI rescue course just now, iv been thinking of the different kit we all dive with.

Unfortunately unlike the PADI examples we dont all dive with BCD and single tanks, so during my course iv been suffering lugging my twin 10's about:eek:....and also giving the guys on the course the joy of pullin me out a one piece harness.

So i started thinking :eek:(believe it if you can)...what the hell do i do when im diving with someone on a reabreather and since there is already 3 soon to be 4 in our club that will be quite likely.

So we have decided to do a few reabreather rescues during our rescue course....so anyone wanting to know how to help their buddy with the YBOD or BBOD are more than welcome to come along.
..you never know how useful it could be...
Dates will be posted asap

Queue big bill for waterlogged cells :)

It is a good question though. Trying to raise someone without flooding the loop or blowing them out the water isn't an easy task. Or trying to get gas to a diver that isn't using a BOV.

That's a good idea. It's important whenever diving with someone in different kit (which for single cylinder divers includes twins) that your buddy knows how things operate.

If I dive with someone other than Andy while wearing my twins I always make sure my buddy check makes mention of the fact that I have no breaks in my harness and I point out where my knife is on the harness and tell the person to cut the harness if they need to.

I'd be up for coming along with my BBOD.

Sounds a good idea, I have always taken it that if someone is diving with a buddy with a rebreather it will be covered in a Buddy check, pre dive discussion. However if out on a trip and the buddy is not available to perform a rescue for whatever reason then yes other people need to be aware.
Never gave it much thought, but thinking now, thanks for pointing that out Lindz
