Our plan of diving The Kintyre had to be delayed due to the forecasted westerly gale on Saturday, so we decided to opt for one of Ding's other dive site guides and headed for the sheltered waters of Loch Goil. I took the opportunity of trying out my new Buddy twinning cam bands and thus had my first foray into twin-set diving (independent 12s). Was a nice dive, taking 25 min of finning into the current along the gently sloping bed to reach our max depth of 30m. Incurred 3 min of deco time @ 3m which was optionally elevated to 9 min by my shiny new Aladin Tec in "micro bubble" mode. Total dive time was 58 min. Temp was 10.4-13.2 C. The other buddy pair had a reportedly enjoyable shallow dive around the bay.

Many thanks to Ding for telling us about this site. We're planning on using it as a training site in the future.

Hoping to get to The Kintyre before too long... weather permitting! ;)

Charlie,

If you planned to stay overnight then Darroch Mhor Chalets and Watersports at Carrick Castle, Loch Goil have a compressor for overnight air fills. Tel 01301 703249. Drop bottles off in the evening and pick them up filled the next morning - I've not used them but phoned a couple of months ago to check the compressor was still working. They do accommodation too

Thanks alex,

Our club is considering the possibility of staying there for a training trip as I'd seen your previous post on the Carrick Castle thread about this compressor. Many thanks again for the info as it may prove very useful to us. :)
