I know there are a small majority who find the photos and videos from the various red sea trips boring, but being my first trip out there I was rather excited (said in a camp high pitched way!). I also think that this may inspire people new to diving (we all started somewhere!) or those not been to the red sea to go and do more. So I have thrown a few videos together and split them up into different categories. I still have to edit and stick together various clips of "big fish". The annoying thing is that I spent a wee bit of time selecting what I thought was ideal peices of music, give the artists credit at the end of the video, but still youtube remove the content, so a few of these have the lovely "youtube audioswap", so not the first choice of music score!

Nice one Chris.
If I didn't know better , I would say you enjoyed yourself that trip !!
Not as good as the Summer Isles though , Eh ?
Some geat video footage there , shame you never get the full brilliance of the colours though.
Maybe we need to club together and buy a set of underwater video lights :O)
Well done Chris.
Cheers , John B.

Hi Chris

We're off to the Red Sea in 3 weeks (3 days after we get back from Scapa!). I'm slightly scared about how close we might get to an oceanic!

Liked your videos - are you using a digital camera as opposed to a camcorder?

It so, and it's quite a small case, you might like to consider buying a tray with arms to screw it onto. It will make it a bit bigger and easier to handle and should reduce camera shake. It should also allow you to attach a video light to it. A lot of torches (e.g. light cannon) can be used as a video light and this means you don't have to purchase lights that you'll only use every so often.

Are you using a filter? This also might put a bit of red back into your shots.

One last comment - what is with the George and Mildred thing? Personally, I had to look them up on wikipedia but is there a connection?

Hey Claire, thanks for the comments, yes I am using a small compact digital and I have thought about a tray and arms, just not got around to it yet. looked at it for the last camera then it failed on me, so I had t spend pennies on a new camera. Now I seem to be spending pennies on building up a new twin tank configuration, so the tray and arms will take another step backward.
I have thought about the filter, but I like it the way it as that's the way I see it when diving, unless I shine a torch on the subjects.

George & Mildred......hmmm not sure I want let that information loose on a public forum, I might PM you if you are that curious.:D

Thanks for the feedback!!

Nah, there are people that know and those that don't (where was I going with this one)....anyway not telling!

Here is the last one from the Red Sea, lets see if Youtube steal my soundtrack from this, since it is a mashup.

Hey guys.
Using a filter is Ok , but unfortunately works by reducing the blue light content to compensate for the lack of red. The overall result is a big attenuation of the total light available to the camera which then gives you problems with ISO sensitivity.
A couple fo decent lights mounted on an arm assembly is a good option but not that cheap if you think about the cost of a light cannon or similar
As for the George and Mildred thing - well obviously Chris is the spitting image of George - simples :D
