5th Nov 2006 - St Catherines - Loch Fyne (entered next to council yard)
Interesting dive! - not too much marine life but found a computer monitor and the obligitory toilet and two big desks, for training I presume!
Great novice dive as very easy entry / exit but probably a bit boring for the experienced.

Hi Craig is this the site as you aproach St Cathrines?. A good photo would be to sit up the toilet and sit a diver on it, like the pictures at Yolanda in the red sea.
Look at the bottom of this web page...

PS I can see a dive description here named by craigdiver and e-mailed to gordon when he gets his e-mail sorted...

Yes, just as you come in to St Catherines, 100 yards past caravan site. mrgreen, my buddy, said after the dive that we should have done the sitting on the toilet thing, but I suspect that if we had moved the toilet the viz would have reduced from crap to s#!t:p
For a second dive, we parked on the slip opposite the closed-down hotel - but absolutely nothing to see, muddy slopes down to DEEP AND DARK! so aborted after 20mins
Cheers

- Don't call me Shirley! :D
St Cath's reef & Rhododendron Point aren't bad reefs either, Ding (and there's more parking at them than Anchor, Gorton etc).
Craig, I love your first photo in your post: really nice! :)

Where is Rhododendron Point? has it another name? this is an area we need to do dive descriptions for, so we know where we are.....
Where are they near?

Hi ding, Charlie, Craig
I think that St Catherines 3 reef might be what Charlie calls Rhodedendron Reef - as there are loads of Rhodys around it. I have also heard it called St Catherines South reef and it might also be known as either Seal or Adams reef.
I'll post a divesite description of St Caths 3 as soon a Gord gets his 'net connection sorted - drew the UW map this morning - and we can see what the various names for this divesite are

Yes and give them a name not 1,2 & 3. The Idea of putting the divesites on a map would be good for people selecting a dive by location or weather.
I guess the sites below are what alex calls St Cath's 2 & 3
We call this one St Catherine's (North) Reef:

This is where we call Rhododendron Point:

Charlie thanks for pics
So we agree:
St Caths 2 reef = St Caths North reef
St Caths 3 reef = St Caths South reef = Rhododendron point
