I thought is might be a good idea to offer you photo-boffins this board for chattin about focal lengths and housings and stuff. There was one thread there that totally lost me :eek: ... maybe because I can't tell turbidity from turgidity ... but i spose that may be a personal issue i could get some help with ...

How do we post pics for other divers to pull apart?:eek:

not photography, but videography.
anyone know how to alter the white balance on video?
my problem:-
i have video shot without a light, just using a red filter & the filter was too strong.
or perhaps the water was not blue enough for it?
either way the lighter shot footage is pretty red!
when the filter kicked in (at depth) the footage is too dark & unusable.
how do you become a dogfish:confused:
talk too much perhaps:D

I've got no idea.. having never done it... but i believe you can use video editing software to alter the white balance.
and to become a 'dogfish' write more posts!!!

Very nice. I like the angle the shot was taken from. Pity you chopped some of the tentacles at the top off though.... :p

clearly..if you have seen one tentacle you have seen them all.. i was focusing on the rather distinctive body!!!:D

Urchin - i think the next move up might be "Conger". Can't quite remember as it's over a month now since i set it up. The other ranks do include Seal and Great White .... I was tempted to make one an "Angerson". btw, congrats on the MD qualy!
Ding - just follow Alex's instructions for now. I will soon be setting up a gallery system though, which should be more straightforward, and will keep all the photos in one place.

I really think these are some of the best photos i've seen. The octopus ones are just awesome, and I've used the one of helen and the seals and the waves as my new screen-saver. I showed them to one of my work colleagues who is really into photography and he was just blown away! Nice work, Urchy!

I upload most of my decent ones from club trips to my web pages rather than posting them here (mine aren't up to your standards anyway) ;) I really love your photos: make me desperate to get in the water :)

Dear Charlie, I can't view your pics as it says I have to instal micrsoft something or other, and I have no idea what it means!! I'm sure i'd love your pics. I use a wee 35mm underwater camera, waterproof to 30m. How technical is tht:D :D

Bill Gates has a lot to answer for! :eek: You might have more luck with another web browser (e.g. Netscape or Firefox) if your version of Internet Explorer isn't up to date.
I'm sure that you'll get some great snaps with your camera: my photography kit isn't much more advanced - no fancy strobes or such. :o
