Hi Clucky, enjoy the chat and Scottish diving. I've been to north Red Sea and am going to south Red Sea next September.

Airmonster lives in Denny near Falkirk - he might be able to advise you.

Hi Clucky,

Welcome to Conger Alley. A friendly bunch with divers from all locations and experience. Enjoy! Where about in the “Falkirk Area” are you?

I know there are dive clubs in Grangemouth and Bo'ness (one is Bsac and the other is Scac, cannot remember which one is which). They both meet at Bo'ness pool on a Monday night. There are also clubs in Stirling, (Rainbow Slides unsure which night), Cumbernauld (Tryst, Again unsure which night). There is also Central Scuba in Alloa. I think this is a group of divers from all organisations who meet and go diving. Mogwai on here will be able to give more details if you are interested in them.

I went the PADI route via FYM in Grangemouth. A few of us who trained together all dive together You are more than welcome to join us.

As Ding posted, have a look on the websites of the various organisations. That will give you the clubs and the night they are on.

Hope this helps.

If you need any more information, let me know.

/Colin. :D

re: airmonsters comments.
cumbernauld SSAC http://www.cusac.org/ (of which im a member) meet on a wednesday at the tryst pool 8-10 pm.
the tryst is closed at the moment due to repairs so we are meeting at greenfaulds high school at present 7-9 pm, who sport a 3 meter deep pool.
central scuba is run by Alex Scott who is also a cumbernauld SAC club member.
he teaches PADI,TDI,DSAT & soon to be teaching SSAC.

as Airmonster suggests, Stirling, Cumbernauld & Boness are probably the closest clubs to you as is Greenfaulds club which is also a SSAC club situated in Cumbernauld.
as for being friendly... well you take your chances :D

Seen as most people seem to be plugging their own club... why not join Eastwood SAC.. we're only a 'short' trip down the road from Falkirk!!!

In all seriousness. Have a look at all the options available to you. This is a 'non-denominational' website, as it were; but have a look at SSAC, and any other organisation that has a club near you. Speak to them all. Phone the committees/owners/whatever... go and see them. Watch them training, as you'll likely have to cross over. find out what they're all about, then decide.

And don't forget. some people join a couple of clubs, across a variety of organisations.

I think the most important thing when deciding on a new club, is write a list of all the things that you want that club to be and do. When you go and see them, ask them all those questions... find out if they are actually the club for you before you commit your money to them.

And above all else... live the dream. And remember... those who have never dived, and never want to dive... are the biggest losers you will ever meet!!! haha.. just kidding...sort of!!!

Live the dream..
