Hi folks.
Saw this on Saturday at St cats.
It looks like 2 pancakes joind together in the middle.
It swam about for a minute or so by undulating its top ' pancake'.
Overall about 8 inches in diameter.
The stills are from a video clip , sorry about the quality.
I will upload the clip to Youtube when I get a chance , can't do it at work unfortunately !!
Any ideas , oh wise ones ??
Cheers JB.

Looks like a type of "hooded" nudibranch, although someone more knowledgable than me will inform us.

Spot -on , well done.
I hadn't seen one before and none of my companions could ID it either from the video clip on my camera.
Thanks a lot :O)

Pleurobranchus membraneceus, she/they swim like Spanish Dancers through the water. I filmed them at Loch Fyne earlier this year at a Dive site next to Anchor Point where they were all laying eggs. Quite something to see, the dancing and the egglaying,;)

They can be found at Finart and many sites in Loch Fyne.
At this time of year the large simi-translucent egg spirals give there presence away.
The eggs stay around for 4-8 weeks.
It's difficult to get the adults to swim.
