Headed across to Loch Long at Finnart on Saturday - mostly to experiment moving some weights around in a nice sheltered corner. Been using ankle weights since I got my own kit (hadn't before) and wanted to move some weight from my integrated weights into a weightbelt to improve the trim. Mission accomplished after much messing around - no more ankle weights - hurrah!

Not bad vis though (5m ish), saw the conger on the platform - first time in about 10 dives there! Also saw a couple of different species of spider crab as well as lots of hermit crabs and the usual suspects. I've always like Velvet Swimming Crabs, and saw one actually swimming this time (so far all the once I have seen have been rather static).

All in all a purely "mucking around with kit" session turned into a lovely dive!

I am inspired to got back to Loch Long some more now. Did a lot of training there last year (mostly in crap vis) and got a bit bored, but it was really good last week. Must experiment with some of the other sites there folks have posted!

Cheers,

Ian

When I saw your post I thought you were going to say you had been mowed down by a sub, as there is a big naval exercise going on all week. Its a terrorist scenario about suicide bombers on jet skis heading for a war ship. it is however all over the west coast. would be great to see but not from the water as there are submarines involved as well!

If you head straight out and onto the flat at about 30 ish meters you get small cuttlefish. This is the only place I have seen cuttlefish, and as murphys law dictates.....You only see them when u don't have a camera....Think I'l head up the lochs tomorrow with my camera...:D
