Righto, I am going to be popping my Red Sea Cherry later this year and wouldn't mind reading some books. The iteneray is the Deep South and St Johns, so not doing the typical wrecks up the North. I have been perusing the usual collection of books on Amazon and there are a lot, but anyone got any specific favourites or ones to stay away from?

I read this on holiday last year:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Deep-Descent-Adventure-Death-Andrea/dp/0743400631/ref=pd_bxgy_b_img_b

I thought it was good, but there are lots of deaths in the book and photos of them recovering dead divers from the surface if that isnt your sort of thing...

EDIT: Sorry ignore this, I didnt realise it was posted in flora and fauna... you wont find much about that in this book. Ignore this post please....

Tough luck - got it, read it, bought the "associated" and "rival" titles - and Chris has read them too!

If you're interested in wreck diving, then I would definitely recommend 'Shipwrecks from the Red Sea' by Ned Middleton which I was given as a present last year. It's a hardback and not really a guide book that you can take out with you - but it's really well researched with fantastic illustrations and photo's of most of the well known (and some of the less well known) wrecks in both the northern and southern sectors. It has a load of information which is really useful if you are diving any of the wrecks. Word of warning though - it's not cheap!
