It's that time of year again. Beryl is back.

Mr F was in the water first when she appeared in the bay. She seemed to be waiting for us to get going.

Once in the water she treted us to her usual acrobatic showing off display. Quite a few fly past during the dive.

Always a pleasure :)

Last time i saw her was at Conger. She/he (does anyone know) seems to like to wander about a bit. Have seen her at conger and the A frames as well, all on night dives. Nothing quite like the big grey shape she is appearing at a rate of knots out of the darkness to make your heart go a bit faster :D

yup - fantastic dive last night. I think Beryl might be Boris though ...
He's definitely grown in size and has loads more scars on his back and right side, maybe from fighting other seals?

Mogwai

Yup, defintely sounds like a male. Boris is a bit harsh sounding though. Can we have a name the seal poll and some suggeswtions for it? Might be fun:D

Stick with a B - Bertie sounds nicer than Boris!

Yep I'd go for Bob or maybe Bertie.

Last night was a great dive. Spent 10 mins freeing a crab from fishing line, on way back came across a group of large fish, was shining my torch at one, he looked at me, I looked at him, he looked at me again then had this look of terror and shot off only to be quickly followed by Beryl/Bob/whoever going at a fair old rate, nearly knocked me out the way. Brilliant..............but not for the poor fish.

i have dived with the seal a few times, i would lean towards it being a common seal, but then again, i also lean towards it being female.;)

Having studied Charlie and Rustynuts videos (you lucky beggars BTW!), I am of the opinion that Beryl is a Grey Seal and very aptly named as she is a female Grey Seal.

Male Grey Seal's under bellies have the darker solid base colour whilst Female's base colour is lighter.

Rather than asking yet another question!! I looked up Borat on the internet.
I have never heard of him, have I really got heather coming out of my ears?

SG. Borat was a character in a film. Borat was played by Sacha Baron Cohen aka Ali G, who was on TV. Hope that clears it up a bit.:D
Now that would be a nice name... Sacha the Seal.. cute.

i spent 3 months offshore, staring at a huge map of the world in between shifts so i think i can answer your question..;)
Khazakstan is south of Russia, north/west of China & well east of Turkey.
Russia borders most of it & it is a real country, no matter how made-up it might sound.

Thats part of the Joke, when he did some of the language jokes he used a mixture of eastern european and Hebrew languages, with a lot of in jokes if you understand Hebrew. Even things like the way the letters are written in his name are Cyrillic and the subtitles are also Cyrillic
Other phrases in Polish used by Borat are Dzien Dobry (Good Morning) and Dziekuje (Thank you)
