I spotted this at 21 metres, hanging below an overhang on the Wall at the South East of the Minards,Loch Fyne, yesterday.
Looks like a plant but not likely at this location.
Any Ideas? Overall length about 15 inches.

thats' a sponge of some description (think it's in the purple photo ID book, but I don't have it in work). You won't find plants below about 6m (12ish in teh very clearest water) in the UK, so it's usually an animal of some sort. Sorry I can't be more help, but I'll see if I can find out the species later on if I remember.
Hi checked up in my little book and it looks like it could be Bowerbanks halichondria ???

Yep, The description sounds about right, especially the bit about growing under overhanging rocks.
Bowerbank's halichondria it is then.:)

That's the chappie, I found it too whilst I was looking up another sponge , then I forgot all about it Yogi :o. It says in the description that it's "very commom in the waters of the British Isles", but I can't say I've seen it at all. Well done.
