Hello.
Just a quicky to show you how to embed youtube videos.

Take the URL for your vid
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0LijkgPo-c

Copy the bit after the "="
u0LijkgPo-c

Than wrap it in youtube tags like this
http://www.congeralley.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=15&pictureid=76

Then you get this
u0LijkgPo-c

Cheers to Loudy for letting me use his vid ;)

No ... I installed a specific tag for youtube. Would probably need to look into this ... Bit snowed right now though ...

Some beautiful, clear shots. Very atmospheric with great calm vis, no murky green, lucky you! Thanks for sharing... Not sure what this has to do with embedding with Vimeo though?! Any suggestions?

ok - I've investigated vimeo ... and it can be done. But it appears to be much more complicated than youtube and will require me to do a bit of hacking. I'll do it when I get a bit of time and space ... (which I don't want to fill with diving of course ;))

Thanks Gord

Hacking = yes
Missing diving = no

P.S. does Youtube still claim ownership of any footage posted... thats why I started using Vimeo

dunno ... I don't use it. But then how could they? People post snippets of movies and so on ...

You are right, they do not have ownership, only copyright rights as such:

8. Rights you licence
8.1 When you upload or post Content to YouTube, you grant:

to YouTube, a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable licence (with right to sub-licence) to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display, and perform that Content in connection with the provision of the Service and otherwise in connection with the provision of the Service and YouTube's business, including without limitation for promoting and redistributing part or all of the Service (and derivative works thereof) in any media formats [and through any media channels];
to each user of the Service, a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to access your Content through the Service, and to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display and perform such Content to the extent permitted by the functionality of the Service and under these Terms.

Hence, no artist I know uses Youtube for work, they use Vimeo or Daily Motion. Also I think there is a certain amount of leeway with using copyrighted images ect for research purposes, it is just when you are going to use the images for distribution or publication that this becomes an issue. This is a grey area of course for online 'note-taking' such as personal blogs, where it could be argued that things have been published. Not too sure about music and films put onto Youtube, as far as I can see folks that are doing that are breaking the terms and conditions of the site.
