Looks a bit like a "Mermaids Purse" egg sac of a skate or shark but I'm not sure?

Sorry Yogi, not a Mermaids Purse (dogfish eggcase) tho I can see what makes you think so.
It's a SeaSquirt, Corella parallelograma, found living singularly, they have an oval or slightly square body and seem to be slightly compressed which flattens them a little.the "skin" is quite hard to the touch and is transparent with often bright red, yellow or white flecks of colour inside. Grow to about 2" in length.
