View Full Version : Skins
As some of you may have noticed, we have a new skin at Conger Alley: "Tobermory". I have also added a version of the old Deep N Dark skin and called it "Night Dive".
Which one do you like best? I'll take a poll and then make the most popular the default skin so that visitors will use it.
Thanks.
I like the Deep N Dark one - hate the Tobermory one as I can't read any of the text. It's marginally better on my laptop, but impossible on my work 'crappy old standard circa 1990 monitor'.
I was still on deep n dark, but now night dive - can't remember the differences.
VB Blue is okay, if a bit bright
Tobermory is very difficult for me to read at work too - will check it out at home

Being a woos who is scared of the dark,:o I prefer VB Blue but it needs the Dive Sites button and the auto resize feature of the new Night Dive.
You see Gordon, you show us you can do these things and we are going to want them.:p
I actually like both Tobermory AND Night Dive on the PC but find them less easy on the eyes on my laptop.
(When you get to my age, you NEED large print. Can you do a Braille version?)
Night dive for me as well. I prefer the text/background contrast. Tobs is a bit busy looking as well.
Need the new branding on night dive also.
Night Dive is basically the new version of Deep n Dark. It allows all the social networking functions of vbulletin 3.7 to work (Deep n Dark won't show all the features of the user control panel, albums, friends, etc.). Eventually I will remove Deep n Dark. Night Dive is also "fluid": it expands to fill your screen and doesn't have empty borders.
re. Scott's comment about the branding - it doesn't look good on Night Dive so I'll be restricting it to Tobermory and VB Blue. Or rather ... I personally really like the total Night Dive theme and don't want to spoil it with our fish :D
Thanks for your feedback guys. I'll change the default theme to Night Dive. It's my favourite too (although Tobermory is pretty funky ... maybe some of our younger patients will prefer it).
:)

If I can't have a "fluid" VB Blue I'll go in the huff! :(
Can I have it pleeease? can I? Can I? Oh pleeeease.:D
Want a Dive Sites link too.:p
Are we there yet?:)

Then why do I have to scroll to the left every time I change page?
Tobermory and Night Dive both fit my screen.

Tobermory works okay at home, must have a brighter screen - it has a sewage farm type of look! ;)
Scuba-Doh!

Tobermory at home on a TFT but Night Dive on work's CRT, not enough contrast on the actual contents of the posts.

When I came back from holiday Tobermory came up. Thought there was something up with my pc then I remembered you can change the background (skin) Definitely prefer deep and dark. Must be an age thing with the contrast:D
I really like Tobermory but the Night Dive one is equally good. Works fine on Laptop, screen attached to laptop and home PC. Never liked the VB one.
Excellent work as usual Gordon!!

Aha!! Discovered the problem!:D
It's nowt to do with the skin. It's when people post pictures which are too large and they don't fit within the screen. The entire thread is then affected. It's particularily noticeable in Claire's thread "Claire and GG's trip to Mexico (http://www.congeralley.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2907) " where Lizardland has posted a massive, and impressive, pic of a diver in a cave.
It affects all of the skins.
ps: or any other dive. :D
I don't really mind, tho' VB blue can be sore on the eyes after looking at darker skins. Maybe it's my age:D

I wondered why that happened. Text goes all to the side.
