Dont rate this site much although the fishermen like it. I saw a small shoal of mackeral and the usual dab and lepord spotted gobi and some big conger. But not much for a 65min dive. The highlight of the dive was in 2m at the end of the dive, two lions mane jellys floated by. They remind me of women beautiful but have a sting!!! Its a dangerous dance getting a close as possible without getting stung. this is one of my pictures.....

What do u think?

An apree dive was had at the Creggans hotel then....

Morag introduced me to to a guy who bought two ROVs of e-bay, you have probably seen them at a house just leaving st catherins two big yellow ROVs that look like small 1 man subs. Amazing bits of kit that can do 5 knots under thier own power. and have special low light video cameras. The things u can get on e-bay....

It's a Pachycerianthus (Fireworks) anemone.... but it's all coiled up. Someone probably gave it a good poke ;)

Yeah but you should see their power-packs :) The biggies have hydraulic motors that run off high voltage generators. Great things to play with though... except if you tie the umbilical around a ladder (oops). I did a week of ROV training as part of my MSc a few years ago.

The new ones don't even have an umbilical, they have a PC on-board, program them with a mission, chuck them in the water, they disappear and come home later with all the data. There are even ones that float to the surface in daytime, charge their solar batteries and then dive at night -- they can stay away for months at a time and then come home with tonnes of survey info.

Cheers,

Stuart

Ding - are you going to write it up as a divesite for CA?. I think the slope bottoms out at below 50m.
