Do any of you have much experience of Uwatec's SmartTrak software?

I bought my wife a shiny new Aladin Prime for Christmas and she dutifully uploads all her dive profiles from it to SmartTrak on our laptop (well, I usually do it to be honest ;)).

Anyway, as her diving computer is better than my old battered one, I thought that I might like to take hers with me on a forthcoming trip to the Sound (she's doing the decent thing & looking after the kids at home).

What I'd like to know is, if I use her computer, is there any way to avoid the dives that I do being imported into her Smarttrak log book in the future? Obviously, I could delete them from her log book on the first occasion, but I'd guess that they'd reappear with the next batch of her new dives. Anyone got any experience of this scenario & any helpful tips please?

I think you can tell Smart Trak only to import new dives, look in the options menu. In which case it won't reimport dives which are still on the Smart Pro but which have been deleted from Smart Trak. This is the way it works for me using Travel Trak which is the version for handheld computers.

Hi charlie

I recently bought a Smart Pro which has much the same software and infrared conectivity. Eddie is quite right after you import them and delete them from the log you only need to download new dives.

Have a good trip. :)

Eddie & Mermaid,

Thanks for your rapid helpful responses :)

When I tried to sort this out before, I thought that the "Insert New Dives" function was supposed to do as you described. However, when I was practising, I had previously found that it ended up re-inserting dives that I'd deleted. So after your messages I investigated it again tonight and found that it still wasn't behaving. In the end, I visited the USA Scuba Pro web site & downloaded & installed their version of SmartTrak. So I guess there was a compatibility bug with the UK software and the Aladin Prime.

Thanks again: without your feedback I wouldn't have got to the bottom of this dilemma I suspect. Will be nice to have the spare computer for my trip. :)
