I lost one ankle weight at Furnace tea room today. Not too big a deal but if anyone finds it it would be good to have it back. It is probably in the water. Told my buddy i would get new ones and he said "there can't be many people who spend their first pension on ankle weights!":D:D

A wee question for you DG,when did you notice you lost it? were you back on land at the time?

I wondered that too. If it was lost in the water and not noticed at the time, it's a pretty good bet that they are not really needed?
As TO of our club, I usually encourage their use for the first few dives, because we used to get novices surfacing fins first on a regular basis till we introduced them. I then encourage people to think about their posture in the water and decide whether they really need them.
(For the record, I do prefer to use them and find they help me to maintain a nice horizontal position naturally. Moving the cylinder down is not an option as the top band of my Zeagle wing is already on the shoulder of the tank. )

Good point! I only noticed whenI took my fins off so I must have lost it in the water. I use them out of habit I suppose. Thanks guys, though I might get some 'just in case'. My son tells me all my 'hang ups' are in my head. I tried my new suit in the pool like some of you suggested and got some encouragement from other guys in the club. Yesterday went to Furnace Cafe Reef. had two lovely 47 and 51 minute dives. Went back to my original weight and got down no problem, buoyancy was fine and just relaxed and enjoyed:):)
