If the weather is good , I might be up for a quickie on the EAST coast , Saturday , Dunbar or such like. Probably just 1 dive as the wife has set us up a busy weekend. and grief WILL be given for every hour of absence :O)
Keep it on the back burner and we can call it nearer the time if you like.

I would love to but as I don't drive I need to depend on lifts and most of our club are couples:)

Typical, I was going to post about the opposite. After not diving this year so far (after my busiest year last year) I thought can I manage one quick dive this weekend.

My free window is Saturday am, with a view to being somewhere - St Abbs? - around 9, to hit the water at 10 and be home by lunch time. Anyone up for that?

Great, haven't checked the weather yet, but low tide is at 08:56 at Eyemouth and 08:38 at Dunbar! - Doh

Sorry ginger, but I see my opening now - Johnny fancy a dive Saturday morning? :D

I am planning skiing on Sunday, but if the weather is too windy or it heats up too much I won#t go - decision to be made Saturday. TBC

Indeed :)
Have the feeling we will be blown off though - and not in the nice way.
As I said before , I will be struggling for time Saturday as the wife has organised a big 'do' for Sunday and there will be lots for me to do - i.e redecorate the whole house , jet wash the kids , build a conservatory , landscape the gardens etc.
You know , the usual stuff you have to do before a visitor is allowed to cross the hallowed threshold.
Can't possibly have them seeing your home as it normally is........:)
What did you fancy ( apart for Ursula Undress that is ) ?

You guys have no chance for the east coast on Saturday...have you seen the weather forecast??

Not that I am jealous or anything.

Yep, the weather looks quite likely to kill both my plans for diving and skiing. However on the off chance its okay my dive window is to go out and be back safely at home sometime Saturday morning. Ideally I would leave the house to be wherever at around 9 and hit the water at 10, one dive and be back in town by 12 ish. I could live with an hour or so later if necnessary.

Sites - I'm open to suggestions, but shore diving out east - St Abbs seems the best option. The only other walk in site I have experience of this side of the country is Dunbar, but from the other side over the bridge which doesn't appear to be working yet. If you know I site we can do nearer than St Abbs that would be fine. Other side of the the castle at Dunbar is meant to be diveable, but I haven't done it.

If it's St Abbs, with low tide in the morning it is going to have to be the south (or is that east!) side of the harbour, big green carr or thereabouts. Seagul rock isn't much of an option with the tide out - good rock climbing experience thou'. If you know the sites at Eyemouth maybe they are bettter, I haven't dived there.

as the wife has organised a big 'do' for Sunday

Must be the weekend for it - we have a party in the house Saturday night and that's why I have to be back to help tidy up!

Pessismistically I might have to agree, but the surf forecasts look alot less wild than the wind, so it might be okay - I'd rather keep the time free and squeeze one in against the odds than cancel now and bemoan the fact that I missed a good day - not like last time at St Abbs when I wished we hadn't wasted our time going - 20 minute dive off the boat at 15-18m still being rolled about by the waves with viz that wasn't as good as 1m!

What did you fancy?

You still up for a dive?

Wind still to pick up but web cams and surf reports still look okay - I guess the real test is to see what it's like tomorrow.

Hi Peter , apollogies but I'm going to take a 'rain check' on tomorrow - sorry !
I would have suggested diving Dunbar at the 'old swimming pool' site which is a good shore dive , especially when its a bit lumpy as it has a nice shallow entry and has the shelter of being in a little horse-shoe shaped bay.
However I also know ( having tried it a couple of weeks ago ) that under the present weather conditions , the water will be all churned up and the vis will be next to nil , even if the weather does calm down overnight.
Which it isn't likely to.
Forecast for tomorrow is heavy showers and 25mph winds.
Sorry Peter but I basically think we are screwed weather wise and I don't want to waste valuable ' Brownie Points' on an outing that will be an almost certain wash-out.
If I didn't have such a hectic weekend ahead I would probably have chanced it , but not this time.
On the brighter side , next Sunday is open and I definately want to get a full days diving in over the Easter long weekend , 21-24 , East or West , anywhere!
You interested in any of those dates ?
Sorry again , but it was a long shot at the best of times :O)

Ok, no probs.

Next Sunday is a possibility, but I am in London on Saturday and it's not yet confirmed if I'm back Saturday night or Sunday.

Easter weekend is out for me tho', sorry.

Hopefully know about Sunday sometime during the week.

Don't do the housework or your wife will set your alarm for 7.30 tomorrow morning.:D

I hope so - I'm off skiing tomorrow - until the wind kills that off too!

[edit] Latest skiing is no snow the lecht or glenshee. Aviemore seems to be open with some skiing to the middle, top looks good, but of course that's flat, nevis is closed until noon at the moment because of the winds and, my choice for the weekend, glencoe is closed all of saturday and might reopen tomorrow - in all cases it appears I can look forward to those ski conditions only found in scotland - skiing in the wind and rain! :)

"The sledge park is closed due to streams" - :D:D:D:D

Jings I'm knackered.
Been at it all day , and I got soaked doing the shopping.
As Dolly Parton once said 'sometimes its hard to be a woman'.
Wife was on her third nervous breakdown by 11am so god only knows what I would have come back to if I HAD gone diving.
Sorry about that Peter , although I'm pretty certain it wouldn't have been a very pleasant dive anyway - turbulent soup !!
Would love to get out another time with you though.
BTW , don't buy a lottery ticket , I have a feeling this is not going to be your weekend ( flashback to personal experience of Scottish skiing in the rain ) :O)
House is reasonably clean now , all I need is somethig to take the thumb print off my forehead :O)
Mr Muscle maybe ?
You all have a nice weekend now ( sorry still in Dolly Parton mode ).

I recognise the hills , but what was that funny white stuff everywhere ??

A Scottish ski slope with actual snow on it , haven't seen that in a while !
Almost felt like scrambling around in the loft and hunting out my old skis and stuff.
Can't remember if I burned my boots though - certainly mean to , the single most uncomfortable piece of sporting equipment ever known to man.
Looks like you had a good time though - what a result.
Now , what are you going to spend your lottery winnings on ?
All the best , JB.
