View Full Version : Conger Alley welcomes Aquatron as Sponsor
After my recent havering over whether or not to have google adverts on every page, Chris from Aquatron came forward and offered to sponsor Conger Alley to help keep it advert-free as per the desires of the majority of the members.
I'm personally delighted with this development as it represents a positive step in the positioning of Conger Alley as an online resource for the diving community in Scotland. Aquatron is possibly the busiest dive centre and dive store on the West Coast and as such sees a large footfall of divers, new and not so new. Hopefully their involvement will see many new members coming to the site and will help raise our profile overall.
Beers all round! :)

That is great. Very kind of Chris, but then he is a lovely lad:D :D
Brillant - Not that i was bothered about the ads but well done Aquatron. I'll keep spending my hard earned cash with you guys.:D
I remember days gone by, when the good 'ole Ali was new, hip, out on the edge.
Now it's just too commercialised..
:D
Cheers to Aquatron, should nip by at some point now that im back in circulation.
pity they dont have a shop over here in the East Side:o
Good idea - also adding their trips to the forum would help encourage more CA involvement.... and of ocurse more reasons to go diving :D
Do we get a CA discount?? :p
all bodes well for the premier Scottish diving web site :D

Does that mean we all get free air at Aquatron?

I feel confident that they'll not charge CA members for breathing ambient pressure EAN 21 while within the confines of the shop.

Ah, Chris, you've just rumbled the game. I'm only paying for what goes into the cylindrical vessels at pressures above ambient (up to and including the specified figures!).
Incidentally, talking about pressures, did anyone spot the BAD science on the Beeb last night? Dr Iain Stewart on his "Earth" series was in a village high in the Andes. In an attempt to explain why Spanish settlers failed to procreate Dr Stewart said, "At sea level the atmosphere is 21% oxygen, up here it is much less".
Oh really? What is the percentage of oxygen at 14,000 feet? Bet it's about 21%, but it's 21% of a lot less than at sea level. Obviously his scriptwriter has never heard of partial pressures!

Thats right! I had a good chuckle at that one. It's interesting to see that our T.V. license money is not being spent on education within the BBC :)
i didn't see the program but i assume he was talking about 21% not being as readily available for breathing due to lack of pressure?
i guess it was probably aimed at couch potatoes rather than divers who understand Boyle's law, teaching Boyle's or Dalton's law cant be great Friday night viewing for Britain.
at 14'000 feet the equivelent O2 (although still 21%) is 60%.
perhaps this is the reason they had problems with procreating.
i think we would all be struggling at that altitude :o unless your a mountain goat...:D;) :D
