Does anyone know of a 1000 yard exclusion to diving around ferry piers? I knew that you cant dive under the ferry terminal or in its path. If there is an exclusion zone of 1000 yards then that would mean that Rothsey bay and Cardwell bay dive site are out. Any comments?

There is no ban on diving on the route of a ferry it is just not contimplated..
Diving around a regularly used ferry terminal is equally ill advised.
I've been told that propellers and divers mix very messiley
However with careful planning and cooperation of the CG and ferry operator it may be possible to organise dives in specific sites?

To ban diving around any structure a local byelaw is needed.
Where is the byelaw?

Clydeport has a set of byelaws.
Diving is not mentioned.

HM Clyde dockyards have byelaws.
No diving within 150 m of structures of any kind.

Details can be found in Admirality sailing directions NP 66

Any other organisation who wants to ban diving in a specific place must do so by obtaining a byelaw preventing the diving (act of parliment) and it must be posted in a prominient place.
They would not get a distance of 1000 m (navy only have 150 m).
