View Full Version : nov-feb... winters coming and i still want to go diving...
just wondering how many people here are likely to be diving over the colder months and if so where??
and is there room for one more??
i know so much is weather dependent but the dive calandar is looking distinctly bare which is never a good thing - so any suggestions??
(YD has loads of posts for the farnes area but was hoping somehting more northern, east or west coast)

Jo,
Have you tried Puffin? (Oban)
They normally have "odds and sods" on their boat during the winter.
You need to wrap up really well (and the trips out can be "lively") but the diving is still superb.
Puffin gets some pretty poor press but I've always found them absolutely spot on.
They tell you what you are going to get ....and deliver.
They once went out with only me and my dive buddy....they couldn't have made any money off us but still treated us like kings.
They are not cheap (£44 for two dives IIRC).
our club dives all year round mostly the clyde or the lochs nearly always the same nutters i mean faces. another good thing about being in a club most sundays were at largs yaught haven . ;)

Hi all, I've got these days off work as usual , and am driving over to the west on Monday afternoon with my buddy, Dive Gramps. Perhaps The Caves on Loch Long, Loch Linnhe, Loch Leven (the Slates), Loch Creran. Wondered if any one would care to tag along?
PM me, for my mobile No (to be spammer free you understand!). We'll be staying in EDNA and will have the compressor on board, if you need air.
Have you got a Polo ? If so seen you at the slates before :D I'd be up for a dive there, when you going ?

Nah Shog, I've got the BIG Iveco 35/10 Extralong Turbo Daily Camper. But Jnatts (the Polo) is a mate of mine and was diving last week...
You 'll be welcome, PM for Mobile No.;)
I dive all year round, it's getting nice and warm now.
Most others on here dive all year too, so there will be plenty of folks to dive with, even on the coldest of nights.
I dive all year round, shore diving mainly except when work gets in the way oh and a few weeks in perth, the nice sunny one in oz not the cold wet one with a castle and a monumment to some rebel:D
I am going to arrange another CA outing on DiveSafari's boat out of Dunbar soon!, Last time we had a good turn out.

All year round for me to. Should be out nearly every weekend. Usually around the Clyde and Lochs.

Sounds good to me. The last one was a good day out.
you can still dive the west coast all winter, oban sound of mull, skye etc,.
you get loads of divers that say they dive though the winter but don't really

yep thats certainly the case for a lot of my club members - many of them have hung their gear up already.
yet yesterday we had a cracking day out on Top Cat - 2 wreck dives 27m & 16m. granted the viz was only about 5m but thats better than on some of the dives i've had.
Problem is most hard boat charters wont take solo divers - dive and sea the hebrides are one such examples and they stop running oct-feb.
I wont dive with puffin because of previous bad service and their prices so thats almost halved the options...
I did send chris a pm though about a trip out of dunbar so hopefully that'll be just round the corner
yep, just going to check my diary and that of Divesafari then a sunday out of dunbar, probably early november!

6 dives in last 7 days.
Last Sunday shoredived East side Great Cumbrae with usual (or maybe unusual ) buddy Alan & Dumbarton Scot SAC.
Thursday night with Alan & Beryl at A-Frames, Finnart, Loch Long
Today Midletters, Strachur, East Loch Fyne with Dumbarton Scot SAC.
Weather and water are fantastic just now - crisp calm days. Why hang up your gear?
