yes, about the same price as a 2nd hand kidney.
you can do it in 3 stages, but it costs even more.
pro scuba, surface supplied & then wet-bell (only required if intending to work off-shore.

steve
1st aid is 1 week
pro scuba is 3 weeks
surface supplied is 4 weeks
wet-bell is 1 week
and you dive every day with the exception of the first aid week.
i graduate tomorrow as long as i pass the exam, if i fail i resit on friday.
my lowest exam result so far is 93% from 8 exams, most were 100% (blows own trumpet, sorry)
the exams are by no means easy, most are brain busters but not beyone the capabilities of anyone wanting to learn.
there are a few in my group who until now had never set foot in the water in their lives. why they take this road is beyone me.

charlie,
you cant sell human parts on fleabay, try kindeys-R-us.com thats where i sold mine.

shog,
i will happily swap you my 1st BIG pay cheque for a shiney new hilux :D
somehow i dont think it would cover the deposit though.
but since you suggested it in front of so many witnesses, lets call it a done deal :)

oldest guy on my course was 55, below him 45 & below him 40.
most guys were around the early 30's & a few whipper snappers just out of school.
i was at the stage where i thought if i never did it, i would regret it for the rest of my life.
since i only get one shot at life, i went for it.;)
