made an active move to get back in the wet stuff,so trying out the gear.how long to charge the above from flat, and how long is the usual last time!! something stirs in the back of the old cranium that when it's "warm" it's ready :p
cheers

I'm sure someone once told me it was 16 hours!
I'm sure someone once told me it was 16 hours!
It depends on how much the battery has been discharged :o

Think Frisky Fraser said from flat.

yes I always did run it flat,I was told it would take a better charge if there was no residual power left in it.I charged it for 8hrs yesterday, and it lasted for one and a quarter hrs.Charged it for 12 hrs today, and that was it just a bit warm,I'll see how long it lasts tomorrow, thanks for the replies.
cheers

Dont run it flat every time just one in five charges I will try to find info on this but I'm sure u dont completly flatten a battery its not good for it. U r probably thinking of the memory effect of ni cad batterys. This was only in the first generation of ni cads new ones and ni mh batterys its best not to completly flatten them. ;)
I found this on the net

hi ding
if you read this part If a full discharge followed by a charge cycle is done "several times", a battery suffering from voltage depletion (voltage depression, memory effect, or whatever you would like to call it) should be restored back to its normal voltage and capacity, having charged it for a second time for 12 hrs,I had it in a bucket of water for 45 mins then "sds" for45 mins then back in the bucket, where it lasted about 30 mins.I seem to recall last time I used it in earnest 2 yrs ago :( it lasted a lot longer,at least two 45-50 min dives, plus.
cheers,
Fraser.

Are you going to cycle the battery then (fully charge and discharge a few times) and check the burn time?

Hi Frisky Fraser
How is the diving getting on. I remember a while ago I and a few others sent you some encouragement about getting back in. I think all trainees feel a hindrance sometimes. Keep going you will enjoy it. I had two good dives on Sunday at Furnace. I even managed to clamver up the slope at th side of the pier. Not bad for wee dive granny:D :D

hi ding and dive granny
first question, aye, that's the idea,so far I've charged it three times, and it seems to be getting a better discharge rate.Seemingly, you can charge it for up to 16 hrs,but I'm a bit wary of that.
hi dive granny, yes I've started back at the pool now for a month, and I'm planning on taking my gear into the pool to give it a tryout.I may not have been in the "real" watter for a while, but I've been steadily adding to my kit, which has cost me a bliddy fortune!!,the ethos behind this being, that I can't afford not to get wet!!:p hoping to get some dive time soon, thanks to everyone for the encouragement.
cheers,
