View Full Version : Shark!!!!!!!
I saw my first real shark today, totally wild, just swagering around looking for something to eat 3 meters from the beach.
He was about 2 feet long, and had a nice dorsal fin. I dont know what type he was.
I've been at work less than a week, and so far I have seen:
- funky lizards
- turtle tracks leading to and from nests on the beech
- and a 2 foot shark
yay! :D
then get yursel in the water & get some foties :D

i agree on the photos tho please!

I was working at the time.
next trip i'll take my snorkling gear, and underwater camera, plus it will be daylight saving hours too, and closer to summer. so it will be lighter for longer.
Did I mention it was turtle egg laying seasson, and soon shark seasson? lots of tiger sharks...
I get paid for this too! the joys of Varanus Island Hub

Are you a marine biologist. My son 'Bubblemaker's' girlfriend (Urchin) is a graduate in Marine biology. They are both desparate to emigrate, as Lyns is currently working as a ranger at Chateaurelaut. (not too sure of spelling)

nah, he's a tiffy...
that equates to something similar to an electrician with the brains ripped out :D
although im sure he will be along shortly to correct me, but i know the truth ;)

I'm an Instrument Technician. It UK maritine industry commonly known as artificers, or "tiffys" for short.
As Stewart says, we're a bit like electricians, but we can read and write, in joined up handwriting and everything. Although we're not allowed to change lightbulbs so to compensate we get to use computers instead.
Do you get to wear the Orange Jumpsuit too. See they still can't shake off the prison fashion look. Anyway you lucky B, what a place to call work :D
today I was working out at sea on a small platform, and I saw:
- big shoal of batfish/moonfish/spadefish
- sea snake
- hawkbill turtle
- another shark about 4" long
I think it's time I started carrying a camera around, and bought a book on Oz marine life...
the sea snake was cool as I've never seen one before.
I've still no idea on the shark species.

my colleague is emigrating to Oz in a few weeks so no doubt you'll bump into him in the village shop. His name is Dave.
