Had a really terrific day with Paul and Russell, met at Inveraray and filled our dinghy with all the dive kit (amazing to see just the amount of gear needed for three people when it's all piled together:eek: ) and motored out to Pauls' yacht, had a quick coffee and bite to eat and headed along to Kenmore using / playing with Pauls' new onboard GPS system, cracking piece of kit!
Dropped anchor in the sheltered bay in 10m of water and got kitted up trying not to get into each others way too much, had some light entertainment tho from big Rusty Nuts who was complaining constantly about his borrowed suit:rolleyes: , roll entry off the dinghy which we towed behind carrying most of the gear and decended down the anchor chain, quick check of anchor to make sure it had a good grip on bed (Pauls better half was still on board!) and we were off, loads of natural light, kelp, crabs and tiny 20mm ish almost translucant fish ( sorry,no idea what they were:o ) came to edge of the reef/wall and the three of us slipped over and started to decend, just love that bit, best feeling in the world, got down to the agreed 30m ( Rusty Nuts managed to sneak down to 33m :p ) and swam along with the wall to our left looking in the plentiful nooks and crannies for life, mainly edible crab, blennies and as many squat lobsters as you can shake a stick at. Hit the agreed 150 bar and returned along the wall slowly ascending to 20m where the light was really good, no real need for the torches really, spent the next twenty five minutes looking at the different rock and slab formations. Rose up and over the top of the wall back onto the lovely sandy, kelp bottomed bay were we had our safety stop and headed back to the anchor chain.

This was our first time diving Kenmore Point and I thought it was really terrific, loads to see and plenty of depth available to the really deep and dark folk out there.

Thanks again to Russell and Paul for a really cracking day out and dive :)

Love diving with my buddy Rusty Nuts cos under the water you can't hear him complaining!:D

52 min dive time, max depth 31.8m

This wee squattie looked proud as punch of his wee home...

We were out at Kenmore Point too, shore diving, I did see the yacht and dingy but didn't pay it much attention. Visibility was good above 20m or so with loads of ambient light (no torch for me on second dive). First time at Kenmore for most of my party too. Glad you enjoyed it.

Hi Scuba-doh,
Seen you guy's too, wondered while we were kitting up if there was any CA members in the water, Conger Alley people everywhere!:)

Also seen a couple of re-breathers in use - Have you upgraded your dive kit again Scuba-doh?;)

Where abouts is the gnome garden?

Yeah, Dive3 and myself.

Rebreather, me? I'd be divorced before I'm married! I'll stick to twin 10s thanks :D

Missed the gnome garden the first dive, but not by much. From the next bay along you fin out to the wall and down to 20m then approx 5min fin to the right i.e. south. From there we swam around the point and came out at the bay you moored in.

There are two gnome gardens. One when diving around the point between the two bays close to the 'white goods reef' of washing machines and other junk. One in a long horizontal ledge in the south wall which extends south from the southern bay.

Ah, we'll need to go back again soon to find the white goods reef and the associated gnome garden.

Nice photos guys.

I merged the two threads by the way - hope this helps rather than hinders :)

It was our guys from 'Fyne Divers' that were with the rebreathers.

I was on the shore getting kitted up with them when the yacht motored in.I was the knob diving a 15 with 2 x 3 300's sideys.

Me and my mate accompanied them down to 46 metres but then we had to go due to our deco commitments unlike the YBOD guys :D

The guys we were talking to were from Ricky's Splashcash.

I saw the big yacht and was a bit envious :D

Thats diving in style man..... :D :D :D

If your going to go to 46m why not take twin 12's and be safe, even if your using air? Wanat to be a tekkie then do the course:confused:

Shop wasn't actually called "Splashcash" as far as I can remember but I have to admit to laughing out loud when I read that & stealing it by using that term with my dive buddies tonight. I was in a particularly daft mood: talking about "Aquaporn" too (just to balance things). Just ignore me... I'll go away  :o

Entirely possible to do 45 mtrs on a 15, have done it on accelerated deco with 7ltr side slung. Just got to do the math beforehand and make sure you can. :D

Have to agree with Shog, not the setup I'd use, talk about making life hard for yourself.

Anyway, I always knew the shop as Cashsports. I won't upset the sensitivity of the mods by mentioning that the traditional way of spelling the proprietor's name has a silent consant at the start...

Twins would be the ideal set up, not arguing that just saying is possible and have done it :) Don't see how it makes life hard for yourself? Hasn't been a problem. As i say though, ideally would like twins for this :D

If you are going to carry three cylinders then you might as well carry three useful cylinders. Three of air is in chocolate teapot territory. What are you gaining other than a short dive or a massive deco penalty for that sort of depth?

Mogwai

My previous avatar shows us doing this in the Red Sea. Luverly people at Emporer gave us 10ltr allys for our deco. 15 ltrs on the back and a 10 ltr ally under your chin :D

Barry (nederlander),

Fail to see the funny side in that one mate. I am trying to make a living like everyone else, including Ricky at Splashsports. Instead of making snide remarks on a site, how about coming in to talk over any problem you have. You know where to find me.

We all have a sordid life outside of diving :D
