a couple of buddies discovered live ammunition at the A'frames today.
i can confirm i saw them also, they looked like machine gun bullets, 4 inches long perhaps?.
their condition was pristine shiney brass, they had obviously just been dumped there, by the MOD perhaps? or is that a political accusation?
the detonators are starting to rust a little.
i did wonder what would happen if the water pressure eased off them if i took some up.
i enjoy life too much, so the mystery shall remain.
the viz was a shocking 1 meter all the way down to 24 meters where it was then crystal clear.

hello stewart,

if they still have the bullets in them, then you can assume they are still live rounds.. in theory nothing much should happen if you were to lift them..but i'd point them away from you just incase!!!

incidently.. where at the a frames are they??? i want some :D

I agree, however if you took them topside & they dry out, things might get interesting!

They were mainly .303 and .22 one of the guys we were diving there with yesterday pulled couple of dozen out and gave them to the MOD Plod with directions on how to find the rest, so doubtless the clearance divers would be trawling the area by now. Dont think they were dumped by UK forces as they tend to use 7.62 and 5. something or other, been a while since i needed to know what size .

they were def freshly dumped thou as hardly any corrosion had set in.

think from the shore it was 310 degrees at approx 8-9mtrs down not sure how far out but closeish to the remaining pier
