These little puppy dogs of the shore are lovely subjects to photograph but they are sometime frustrating in that they you get set up and they back into their holes in a flash.

But I thought I would share a time and place where the come out brazenly and let you shoot at will. It’s the entry point at St Abbs just after the flush at high tide.

They must have sussed that all the foot traffic knocks the tops of the barnacles at this location. Because for twenty mins after the tide floods they gorge themselves on the barnacles. Its shallow and even point a shooters should get a few good shots at this location.

do you know how barnicles get it on?
and why they live so close together?

These shots are natural light (no flash no strobe). The site is so shallow and bright. Thats why i recomended it as a good point and shoot project.

Hi Olddog.
Are you using a wide angle lense on these?

Hi Olddog.
Are you using a wide angle lense on these?

Yes and no. The stock lens on the Oly C7070 is wide as standard. The wide angle zoom has a 35mm equivalent focal length coverage of 27mm to 110mm.

Full spec.

I my humble opinion this has to be the perfect user friendly undrewater photogs camera. A DSLR will have better spec on paper but mine gets the shots they miss!!!
