Out diving "The Caves" last night with Snorkel123. Really good dive, getting a grip of my breathing and managed 65mins under the water. Saw lots of life and came across the following fish (anyone any idea what it is? Rockfish? Stonefish?).

Also towards the end spotted a Lionsmane Jellyfish (I think!) but it was definately big and ugly.

Something tells me it is a Scorpion fish.

Very good photos, and well done on your air consumption, soon you'll give Loudy a run for his money.

I saw my first one of these on Sunday at Conger Alley. Didn't have a clue what it was, good to know.

Trust you Ding, thanks. You got there first! As the Fin......... bitty says, they are quite tasty, with a nice firm flesh but you do need to watch out for the spines! Whilst not poisonous(unless they push in muck from your own hands) their "bite" is big and painful! Anglers usually de-hook them wearing a thick towel (or just cut the line and chuck 'em back! The hook dissolves within a few days, "so that'll be ok then" )

Yes i agree it is a Scorpion fish. I have only seen a few before but there was a rather large one sitting on a rock at about 7m in furnace quarry earlier this year. Scared the @'#*& outta me! as it was about 9 inches from my face when i clocked it.

Good Photo's mate!

Thanks Folks!

Are Scorpion fish aggressive or is it just when you poke them in the eye they get annoyed?
