I am arranging a trip to the red sea for September 2008 on behalf of Eastwood dive club. I would like to open this up to other divers in order to get cheaper rates and flights from Glasgow which we will if we fill a boat.

The trip is the 'wrecks and reefs' option with Tony Backhurst, details of which can be found on the website: www.scuba.co.uk. It comes in at about £850, which includes almost everything.

If any individuals or clubs are interested, please send me an email.

hey, I added to it last night! and I'll do more to it tonight.

if you want a nice blog to look at, have a peek at Charlies or DavieG

mine just needs some "refinement" and some "substance"

i think your p155 blog is as adventurous as someone trying to sell £850+ holidays on their first ever post. :)

Aww, give him a break, he's been running around trying to organise a trip for the club - which is something not too many people at Eastwood seem to want to take on these days.

Anyway, I have one or two posts to my name and can vouch for him. There's 8 of us going at the moment, I think, but it would be really good to get a boat full as they'll get Glasgow flights for us, something that's nigh on impossible these days for liveaboards.

GG and I did the wrecks and reef trip last year and it was amazing - if you want to dive the Thistlegorm without the crowds then 6am is the time to do it!

Anyway, seeing as Shiny has not introduced himself, I will do it for him. He is a member of Eastwood, has a thing about new kit (hence the name) and has a degree in aeronautical engineering but delivers water for a living.

He supplied us with much amusement on our recent Malta trip, trying to get in and out of his neoprene vest. Here's a photo.

Anyway, stop the thread hijacking and get your name down for this trip - it will be good!

Well said Claire. I thought the guys were a bit mean. Alistair is newly qualified, very keen and just back from our Malta trip where he did his first warm, blue water dive, first wreck dive , first deep (ish) dive, first night dive, first hard boat dive... think that was all his firsts. He enjoyed all his new experiences so much he was so keen to go abroad again, hence the Red Sea trip, so stop taking the piss and give him a break.

Boat is dependant on the number of divers going, but i would like to dive from the whirlwind or typhoon, however if I only get 12, it will be the tempest. As for the date, first week in september 2008. We have 10 divers from Eastwood going so far, so we could do with another 2 - 10 divers.

Sounds like a great trip: good on Alastair for taking the initiative to organise it: I wish that our club had folk like him on-board!

P.S. I've removed Alastair's email address from his initial post as gareth recommended to save him getting inundated with spam. You can still email him if you're interested in the trip by clicking over his name & selecting the send email option
