Thanks for that web site link - I've just signed the petition and so has everyone in my work. You can do more - write to your MP (MSP, MEP whoever will listen). demand that Whale protection be taken more seriously. Voice your disgust at this process and the thinly veiled pretence of scientific research. If according to Japan whales are fair game as they are wild animals there to be exploited why do the Chinese not kill off Pandas for food? The reason is that the effect of over hunting on land mamals is easier to measure but the sea will look the same wheather there are whales in it or not.
Why if there is such a market for this meat are there wharehouses in Japan with surplus meat that they cannot shift?
We try to protect Elephants, Tigers, Rhinos ect from extinction by over expoitation - it should not be so hard to do the same for these giants.

Most of the guys in eastwood boycot resturants that sell shark products.
Maybe we should boycot Japanese products as well? ;)

Oops! I had a shark 'chippy' in Australia. In my defence theycalled it 'flakey!
