Decided to make the longer drive rather than get caught in bridge and bypass traffic had we gone to St Abbs.

Surface conditions fairly calm, slight NW breeze, 18 deg C, clear skies.
Underwater: viz 5-6m at 16m. Cloudier, particle suspension from 17-25m, viz reduced to 2-3m at best. Very dark below 21m.

First dive 45 mins, max depth 25.1m, min temp 9 deg C.
Second dive 33mins, 16.4m max, min temp 10 deg C.

Plenty to see including wrasse, squat lobster, partlin, hermit crabs by the hundreds. Then we ran into this fine example - see below. Gave me a shock as he slid out from his lair, hadn't expected it! Two good dives, enjoyable day out and home before 6pm!

Fantastic. Don't think I've seen a conger at the A-frames yet.

I'll echo that remark, especially after seeing a baby conger at twin piers which was only half a foot long or so. I didn't manage any photos of it unfortunately as it was safely tucked under a boulder with mummy conger putting on a better show for us (see video).

They are probably just like many other animals above and below the water, harmless until they feel threatened and that's when they become aggressive and not so cute. (not a word I personally would use to describe a Conger).
