View Full Version : 3mm gloves
Hello.
It's payday and I need a new pair of 3mm gloves and I want to pick your brains.
I want a pair of gloves where the velcro wrist strap isn't elasticated. A bit of kevlar wouldn't go a miss either.
I've been using beaver ones and the elastic just stretches leaving the strap useless.
But I'm also open to other suggestions if you have a pair that are the best ever.
Cheers.

I don't like elastic straps either, I don't see the point, they don't serve any purpose and they just end up catching on things.
I got mine from the French chain, Decathlon and they are the best pair I've had. Two years old and still no holes. They've got a few shops in the UK, not sure if there are any in Scotland though.
Shooting shops sell cheap neoprene gloves if you don't mind green. I've had some really comfy gloves from canoeing shops too.
Cheers,
Stuart
Don't know if they have velcro or not, can't quite remember but guy i used to dive with swore by Scubapro 3mm kevlar tipped gloves. Said they were as warm as 5mm.
I have Typhoon gloves. Most of the guys I know have them too. I think they are the mutts....

I just cut the elastic bit off.

These are the gloves I have, kevlar tipped, have velcro strap but its not elasticated!! Great warmth like 5mm but still use of fingers at 3mm!!
Is the summer an i am still using 5mm, might look at giving the 3mm kevlar a try though.
i use 3mm all year round as i don't care about the change in water temperature much.
i buy US divers 'curvtek' gloves for £10 a pair in the cheap basket in my LDS.
they have elastic/Velcro straps on the wrist which works for me as i have my torch wrist mounted.
i get around 6-9 months (50-80 dives) of wear out of them, wreck diving.
perhaps not the best gloves around, but cost effective for what i do.
once the fingers are burst, nick of the tops for a fingerless pair for the summer.
if anyone wants me to pick up a pair for them, im happy to do so. medium or large only.
I use the same gloves as Stewart and for a tenner you can't go wrong.
