Have you thought of joining that garage out stirling way, 35p a litre, i think you pay 150 or 135 a year and get one full tank a week????

Mogwai
24-07-07, 08:56
Hi,

i don't stay to far from said garage. It is currently under review by customs and they have had to up their prices. Still a bit cheaper but not what it was. That was last i heard a couple of weeks ago so don't know if the situation has changed again.

Mogwai,
I will be in Edinburgh Friday and picking up my Drysuit (hopefully) at EDC around 1630-1700, would it be sensible for us to meet and chuck all our stuff into one car, you are out sighthill way arent you. possibly at one of the petrol stations round the bypass??

Mogwai
24-07-07, 13:14
If your in the city centre Chris, if you come out this way to hit the bypass you will drive past where i work. Not sure where the dive centre is or how far away though but no probs to take the one car. Give me call or pm me to arrange.

W.

Hope you have some good diving - just don't go finding angler/wolffish without me.

chris
25-07-07, 12:28
Ok definately going looking for the Anglerfish, however I wont have a camera with me, so you will just have to believe me when I tell you we saw 5 wolffish and two anglerfish, with dolphins swimming through the arch and a turtle resting in the top arch, oh and dont forget about the John Dory and sunfish that will be following us during the dive :D :D

Looks like its:

Chris
Mogwai
gedan
shmeeg

For Thursday to see all the life and hide them for the Friday night mob. Slack low water is around 1900hrs so if we are meeting between 1800 and 1830 that should be perfect for a splash at 1845, swim through the arch at slack then nice drift back in to find the anglerfish.
Gedan, Shmeeg I will PM you my mobile, Mogwai and I are trying to arrange to meet up somewhere to share travel.

I've just been trying to figure out where we are going - I have placed a blue dot on this map where I think the Harbour is (not very clear on the map). Let me know if I'm way off the mark. Where is the best place to park when we arrive?

PS - the faffing will be worth it when we post the perfect anglerfish pics.

In this picture you want to be parked in the bottom RH corner were the blue car is opposite the two sheds.

http://www.finstrokes.com/divelinks/forth/images/stabbs1.jpg

The flag on the map is right.

Take the B6439 from the A1 then keep going until you hit the water.

If you miss the turn off you can take the next one (A1107)

Better map (http://www.finstrokes.com/divelinks/forth/images/stabbs1.jpg)

Yep, Scott is spot on. I should be there with Mogwai in my silver and rust coloured nissan primera :)
Glad you have a camera, coz Charlie and co wont believe us when we find the anglerfish!!

chris
26-07-07, 22:47
Well the four of us met on time and dived CA, report to come later, too tired.
NO anglerfish though :( but we did see an octopus. Hopefully Shmeeg got some nice pictures to show us all.

charlie
26-07-07, 23:05
sounds good: looking forward to the report :)

was the viz good?

much swell?

shmeeg
26-07-07, 23:16
The vis was excellent 8-10m in the Arch. The swell was virtually non-existant but I still managed to make an arse of myself getting out of the water:o

Some of the pics turned out quite well and even managed to get one of the octopus caught in a lobster pot.

charlie
26-07-07, 23:27
excellent: looking forward to our trip tomorrow night :D

chris

Have a good one Charlie (&co), there was little swell as said before but there was a bit of surge under the water, certainly felt it in the arch and the return swim.
We also went a shortcut to the arch and we were at it very quickly, gave us lots of time to play about and investigate it more. We were under for over an hour which may have played a part in the surge developing with the tide changing.
Take some food for the wrasse, they were all ganging up on us in the arch and there was a very big pollack stalking us too!
