Headed upto Conger last night, got in the water about 2000 ish, it was flat calm and looking like a mirror, headed off to the left and hit the reef about halfway down viz was pretty poor about 1-2 mtrs, however im not sure if thats normal as my last few dives have all been freshwater inland sites where the viz has been pretty good.
Anyway down we went only saw the tail of one conger and a few blennies and gobbies. Coming back up when we got to the biggish rock around 10 metres there was a big wrasse which ive seen on all the last few dives there. Other than that was pretty uninteresting, however was happy with buoyancy.
Had about an hour talking utter rubbish with my buddy (both ex sailors so thats dead easy).
2nd dive we went right this time to try and find the pile of rocks, neither of us have been that way, as we descended around 6 metres something caught my eye, it was a squid about 4 inches long, (no camera). That is the first time ive ever seen one up here and was pretty amazing. We carried on and found the rocks where we found 3 big conger in their holes and plenty of other life too. Viz was still 1-2 metres and as it was getting dark when we entered it was quite dark below.
Tried out new back up torch which is a 3w salvo rat, has a very tight beam, which is good for signalling but not for looking with, however in blue water i think it would make a good torch for poking around in holes. Next dive will be dive number one of six on fundies
