If wanting to do Cathedral Rock, slack water is best. To tour around Broad Craig & the Green Carrs, the state of tide is less critical. Shore access is possible at any tide height but is easier at HW as we can all testify.
Obviously, as with any North Sea diving, the weather will be the ultimate judge.
Any thoughts?
Thursday looks good if we can arrange to meet about 5.30 - 6 and in the water sharpish.
Failing that Friday night would be good.

Sorry Charlie,
I'll need to pass on that just now, well until the toe heals a bit anyway!
Maybe in a few weeks time.
Thanks,
/Colin. :D
what time are you planning, we have to get across from Glasgow?
Yup i'm in. Just let me know what night suits.
W.
I would prefer wednesday or thursday, as I can arrange to be Edinburgh one day, Cant do Friday at all!

If it was Friday I'd want to be in the water by 1920, should hit Catherdal Rock on the slack quite nicely.
So I would say meet at 1830-1900 depending on how quickly you want to set up.
If you're interested in diving St Abbs next week could you please vote for those evenings that suit you so we can see if we can get some sort of consensus? Vote for as many as you're available for please.
Friday is best for me as i finish work at 15:30.
every other night of the week i get drunk..
Friday would be nice because I beleive it will be T2Ts last Scottish dive before he heads south.
We can give him a fond smell ye from CA
suppose theres nothing to stop us doing 2 or 3 trips between us all!!

we'll have to wait & see what the weather is like anyway next week :o
In that case can i do 2 or 3 as should be available on any of those nights, whoo hoo :)
what say we all just pick a day, phone in sick & go diving. :D

I like your new avatar, mogwai: it looks vaguely familiar ;)

that's OK as long as it's not the day that your body decides to get bent... then it gets embarrassing :o
Friday next week is good for me and if anyone needs a lift then PM.:D

the only way your gonna get bent at st. abbs is if yur in a gay bar
There are no gay abrs in St Abbs Stewart but if you forget to bring your suit then ..................:D :D
There are no gay abrs in St Abbs Stewart
i'll take your word for that ;)
Well as long as Lody is there to rush home :D
at the moment, the weather forecast looks OK for diving St Abbs next week.
there are some easterlies until Mon but then it's all westerlies
if it remains like this then it should be good towards the end of the week :D
from the poll, we obviously have a healthy amount of interest (thanks to you all for participating :))
to take it forward, it might be best for folk to start committing to which night(s) they'll dive.
e.g. I've replied to the poll that I'd be available Tue-Fri but I'll not be diving all of those nights (much as I would like to). I'm thinking that I'll dive Friday & I'm happy enough to organise that trip. If others want to commit to another day & take the initiative of spearheading it then that would be great. e.g. chris could take charge of Thu & sort out who's up for that trip.
the weather may well change between now & then meaning that the whole plan may have to alter.
If the east is swelled out, I'd be keen to head west. It's up to others what they want to do.
So, to start the ball rolling, who else wants to dive on Fri?
Remember your suit then.:D
Remember your suit then.:D
think im gonna hear them words in my sleep tonight...
Just a thought, a very nice thought.
on the way to St. Abbs on Friday, I'll pop into Costco and pick up a tray of iced Danish Pastrys, mmmmmm
I know Loudy likes them....
could someome explain to me the logic behind closing the poll on Fri 27th? all the earlier days will have past. Would it not be better to close it on Sunday the 22nd?

The idea of the poll was to gauge the availability of people for evening diving next week: not necessarily their particular preference. Hence, I put myself down for Tue-Fri as I could dive any of those days... not all of them! That's why the poll allows multiple selections. It was a declaration of interest rather than a firm commitment: sorry if that wasn't clear.
That was stage one of the plan: to see what days were possibilities. Stage 2 is now underway for people to commit to the day that they would prefer to dive.
My point was you can hardly vote on the 27th to dive on the 24th, just being pedantic, sitting here with nothing better to do!

Is anyone going from Glasgow? I quite fancy St Abbs. Not done it for ages, but I have no transport.

I could, but I'd need to pick you up about 8 in the morning and you would need to pass the day in Dunfermlne.
Either that or pick your gear up then you could get the bus through later. There is one every half hour to Dunny, I'd pick you up there then head to St Abbs. I could then drop you off on my way back to Greenock.
There is one every half hour to Dunny,
you have a bus that takes you to the toilet
