Dived St Abbs last night for the first time

My hat off to Charlie's navigation. Shore dive out between Broad Craig and Scott's Rock, out to Cathedral rock and back. We even came up near the exit point.

I must say it was a cracking dive. Having been used to the Clyde the viz last night was almost like being back at the Red Sea (compared to the Clyde anyway). The Wrasse are very friendly. Seen my first Pipefish as well. Need to take the camera next time. :D

It was my first outing in my new dry suit. Had a couple of rising moments so a bit of work needing done on my weights tomorrow. It just ruined a nice run of a 10ish dives with no accent alarms on my computer :o

I really wish I didn't have a bathroom to work on on Sunday. I'll definitely be back.

Thanks to Charlie and Mogwai for the dive.

mogwai eventually made it then? I spoke to him last night as he was slightly lost, but I will let him tell his version!

Glad you had a good time, sounds conditions were good for you, hopefully just as good for Sunday too!!

No wolfish or anglerfish, must saving them up for charlie for sunday.
(note to self, pack the plastic ones and swim ahead of charlie! :) )

Great blog, Scott. :D

There was just so much life on the dive with pretty clear viz.

Highlights for me included the multitude of small fish as we first submerged and the host of pipefish around the kelp. The conger & lobster in adjacent crevices were pretty cool. The attendant ballan wrasse were very friendly but frustratingly difficult to photograph. Also spotted some nice flatfish within crevices and of course my standard... for 3 dives in a row... a Yarrell's blenny. Popping my head into the air space at the ceiling of the upper archway was fun too.

Just can't wait for chris to show me a wolffish on Sunday.

Major thanks to regthing & mogwai for coming along. Did you find a bed for the night, Scott?

I've posted my (pretty mediocre) photographic attempts here (http://staff.stir.ac.uk/charles.mcgurk/diving/CA120707/).

Smashin pics Charlie. I've taken copies if you don't mind. Promise I won't pass them off as my own ;)
Shame I was exhaling though

I forgot to mention Catherdal Rock. That was amazing as well. My first archway :) It all looked very majestic, the small arch was fun.

Plenty of nooks, crannies and dookits to explore. I like dookits :D

I did end up spending the night in the car in the works car park :( I still managed to sleep in mind you  9:20 I woke up :D
