Chris,
Such honesty should not go unrewarded - I'm sure you'll see many more on your St Abbs trips.

There are certainly plenty of nudibranchs of that type in L Fyne.
Here's a rather poor photo of one at St Cath's Reef:

There are also quite a lot of sea slugs in L Long, here are a couple of species that I've spotted in the past:

If bubblemaker and Urchin would get back on Conger and post some pics you would know there are plenty nudis in Loch Long and Loch Fyne. they spend ages in the shallows looking for the things most people miss:)

hey folks,
There are millions of nudis in Scottish waters... you just need to open your eyes. We, that is to say Urchin and myself, generally see them on every dive!!

Welcome back!:)
For 20 odd years I never saw any, then she who must be obeyed showed me 5 or 6 on one leaf of kelp and now I see them everywhere.

Great website, have you seen the camera set-up... that is some piece of kit.

EDIT: ooo err, smut alert
Anyone willing to take me on a nudi search and photography expedition? :D

They are very small, hence my delight in spotting them:) However they are usually quite bright colours and pretty. As John said tops of rocks and boulders and on kelp.
Scott if you are going to St Abbs Friday, closely examine the kelp fronds!!
Will do. And I'm taking my camera ;)
If it was anything like last time hopefully you won't need to examine them to closely, they were everywhere. Was fantastic, bit like a kid in a candy store for me that day as i hadn't seen any before. They were even floating about in the water around us. :)

I'll be keeping an eye out for them tonight. Don't yet know where I'm off to, probably Conger Alley.

I now have this image of you rushing from kelp to kelp stuffing nudibranches into your mouth!
Slugs are to be found all over Finart.
On the kelp in the shallows (tiny ones).
On the A-frame (larger ones but well camouflaged).
Occasionally very large ones on the sand close to rocks.
I need pictures of nudi for here (http://finstrokes.com/benthic/benthic.html) so divers know what they have seen and can write it in there logbooks
That site was setup by the chairman of the club I go to, He seems to be very clued up on them and where to look, if you send him an e-mail Im sure he will give you all the info on where to look for them:)
Seen then on all sea dives for a long time :)
Problem is that many are very tiny and you need to get your eye in for the tiny ones :(
The green ones on the kelp at Finnart look like tiny bits of 'cr_p' they are only about 6 mm long.
The big ones are easier.
